IPL fines Virat Kohli ₹24 lahks and the rest of the RCB team after a 7-run victory over RR.
Due to Faf du Plessis’ inability to play in their last two games, Virat Kohli has served as RCB’s captain.
Royal Challengers Bangalore may have defeated the highly regarded Rajasthan Royals in a crucial match to earn their second straight victory. But the entire team was assessed fines following the match. Virat Kohli was chosen as the team’s match captain.
In a statement, the Indian Premier League (IPL) said that while the rest of the team received smaller fines, Kohli received a fine of $24 lakh for the RCB’s slow over-rate during the RR innings.
RCB captain, Virat Kohli has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 23, 2023.
As it was his team’s second infraction of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences.
Kohli has been fined Rs. 24 lacks and each member of the Playing XI including the impact substitute is fined Rs. 6 lacks or 25% of the match fee, whichever is lesser, it added.
Due to Faf du Plessis’s injury, who was removed from the field after he finished batting in the team’s previous two games, Kohli has been serving as captain.
Due to an intercostal strain of grade 1, Du Plessis has been unable to play in the field.
On April 10 at home against Lucknow Super Giants, RCB suffered its first overrate offence. Du Plessis the captain at that time, received a 12-lakh fine because it was their first offence.
The injury has not affected Du Plessis’ batting form. After RCB’s innings, the former South African captain was replaced by an impact player, just like in the contest against RR.
His 84 runs in 56 balls, which helped RCB reach a score of 174/4, made him the game’s highest scorer. The final score was RCB by 24 runs. Du Plessis made 62 off 39 balls while Glenn Maxwell made 77 off 44 against RR.
RCB scored 189/9 thanks to the pair’s 127-run third-wicket partnership off of just 66 balls. Devdutt Padikkal scored a half-century for RR. Dhruv Jurel scored 32 off 16 balls but they could only reach 182/6.
