The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match 68 of the IPL 2023 is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 20, at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens Stadium. In the points table, Kolkata is in seventh place and Lucknow is in third place.
While LSG, captained by Krunal Pandya, has won seven and lost five games so far in their campaign, KKR, led by Nitish Rana, has won six and lost seven games. KKR defeated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their most recent game with ease. In their most recent game, LSG defeated the Mumbai Indians (MI) with ease.
The match between two very talented teams is expected to be thrilling. Both teams are motivated to earn their seventh and eighth victories in the IPL in 2023. Thirteen games have been played between the two teams this year. In their previous meetings, Kolkata and Lucknow have split the wins, each winning one game.
Three player confrontations to keep an eye out for during the KKR vs LSG game are listed below:
1) Nitish Rana vs Ravi Bishnoi
The spinner-tackling expert Nitish Rana has previously encountered difficulties with wrist spin. At a strike rate of 142.85, he has 280 runs in the IPL’s middle overs.
His main test will be against Ravi Bishnoi, who has 13 wickets in the middle overs this season and an economy rate of 7.72. In their two IPL matches so far, Bishnoi has yet to dismiss Rana.
2. Sunil Narine vs Quinton de Kock
This IPL season, Quinton de Kock has played a relatively small role, and Sunil Narine has had a generally subpar season. De Kock will look to add to his impressive record against KKR, having scored 417 runs against them in prior games.
Given that they have faced each other six times in the IPL and have a strike rate of 100, his matchup against Narine will be intriguing.
3. Varun Chakravarthy vs Nicholas Pooran
This season, Nicholas Pooran and Varun Chakravarthy have both shown off their improved abilities by taking 19 wickets each. Varun’s enigmatic spin, however, has been difficult for Pooran to handle.
In their five IPL matches, the KKR spinner has twice dismissed Pooran, but Pooran has still managed to score 28 runs off 20 deliveries against him. In the IPL, Pooran has a strike rate of 155.07 against leg-spinners, but in 29 innings, he has been out six times.
