Rajasthan Royals power-hitter Shimron Hetmyer heaped praise on Yashasvi Jaiswal who has had a terrific run in the 2023 Indian Premier League. He expressed that the opener is having an unbelievable season so far. The youngster is the leading run-scorer for the franchise, and third highest overall this season.

In fourteen matches, Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 625 runs at an average of 48.08, and a strike rate of 163.61. He has five half-centuries and a century to his name so far in the tournament. The 2023 Indian Premier League has proved to be a breakout season for him. Hailing the opening batter, Shimron Hetmyer said, in a conversation with Trent Boult,

“I think the season he is having is unbelievable for a young guy to come out and do what he does. I think people forget how young he is as well. It was really nice.”

It was nice to get a score at the end: Shimron Hetmyer

The Rajasthan Royals secured a four-wicket win over the Punjab Kings on Friday, May 19 in Dharamsala. Shimron Hetmyer played a brilliant knock of 46 runs off just 28 deliveries. Speaking about his performance, he expressed that it was good to win the game for the Rajasthan Royals. Hetmyer said,

“At the beginning, no. Coming towards the end of it, yeah, a little bit. It’s nice to get a hit sometimes. After not getting the opportunity in a little while to make as many runs as I was getting out. It was nice to get a score at the end and the guys were doing really well.”

Rajasthan Royals rank fifth on the points table with fourteen points and an NRR of 0.148. They need plenty of other results to go their way if they are to make the playoffs of the 2023 Indian Premier League. They will need the Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore to lose their last matches on Sunday, with the latter losing by 7 or more runs, or by five or more deliveries.
