IPL 2023: Michael Hussey Makes An Announcement Regarding MS Dhoni’s IPL Future

The future of MS Dhoni’s IPL after the 2023 season was discussed by CSK’s batting coach Michael Hussey. Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings, will play in the team’s final league match of the 2023 campaign on Saturday afternoon when CSK host the Delhi Capitals.

There have been rumours about Dhoni’s future in the IPL. Danny Morrison claimed that this would be his final season. During the toss in the match against Lucknow Super Giants.

Michael Hussey explains about Dhoni, “He’s trying as hard as he can”.

Hussey makes a breath-taking pronouncement regarding MS Dhoni’s IPL future following the 2023 season: “He’s trying the best he can”. The fans continue to predict what will happen to the wicketkeeper-batter despite no confirmation from him.

However, CSK’s batting coach Mike Hussey has made a significant claim about Dhoni’s future in the IPL. Saying that the 41-year-old is healthy enough to compete for the team for “the next five years”.

He continues to hit the ball well and is still driven to attend practice sessions to work on his swing. He has a history of entering the game late and providing strong finishes.

According to news agency PTI, Hussey told reporters prior to the game against DC: “He’s still got the six-hitting ability. While he’s enjoying it and is contributing to the team there is no reason why he can’t keep going for maybe another five years”.

Even though the legendary wicketkeeper-batter has been dealing with a knee injury throughout this IPL. Dhoni has kept wickets in every game and made helpful cameos at the end of innings while batting as low as number 8.

Hussey commented on Dhoni’s batting position and addressed his knee concerns, saying, “I think it’s pretty clear that he likes to come in the last few overs, that’s his plan”. His knee has not been 100%, as has been well-documented. But he is doing his best to compete in the tournament.

Therefore, I believe he doesn’t want to always have to run those quick doubles in the 10th, 11th, or 12th over. Because that will put pressure on the knee. He is attempting to wait as long as he can before entering the game. And making a difference in the final innings.

”He shows a lot of support and faith in individuals like Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Ajinkya Rahane and Ambati Rayudu to complete the task before he enters the picture”, Hussey continued.
