Yashasvi Jaiswal was called upon by many supporters and experts to be selected for the ODI World Cup team, prompting Dinesh Karthik to make a bold statement about the RR opener.
The Sanju Samson-led Rajasthan Royals, who finished second last year, had a lot to build on for the upcoming campaign despite missing out on a playoff spot.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s ability to distract fans from opening partner Jos Buttler’s subpar performance was one of RR’s pluses. He is currently in fourth place in the Orange Cap race. He finished his campaign as RR’s season-high run scorer.
Regarding Yashasvi Jaiswal, Dinesh Karthik offered some guidance to the Team India selectors
In advance of the 2023 ODI World Cup, Dinesh Karthik makes the audacious claim, “I don’t think Yashasvi Jaiswal needs to be fast-tracked”.
Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 games at an average of 48.08 and a 163.61 strike rate. It includes a century and five half-centuries. Many fans and experts have demanded that the RR opener be selected for the ODI World Cup team. It will be held later this year in India, as a result of his IPL 2023 performances.
However, the wicketkeeper-batter also offered the selectors a suggestion, urging them to move quickly to add Jaiswal to the T20I lineup.
The player said, “I don’t think Yashasvi needs to be fast-tracked into the ODI setup. He is a young boy. He needs to be accelerated into the T20I setup. There aren’t many ODIs left to be played before this World Cup. So I believe he needs to be one of the favourites for the T20 World Cup that will take place the following year”.
Jaiswal should be given more time in the Team India setup, according to Karthik’s recommendation.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a very special player, so I only think it’s fair that he receives an extended run when given the chance. We have seen him in this IPL. But when it comes to international cricket, it’s a completely different ballgame,” he said.
“Simply place him in the T20 setup; he must be there right away. He’ll move forward. And by the time this World Cup is over, he will be prepared to play in ODIs and T20s moving forward,” he continued.
