Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has been a huge admirer of veteran Team India batter Virat Kohli. In a recent interview, he revealed that the duo shares a mutual respect for each other. He also added that Virat Kohli has been kind to help him out, whenever he needs advice in his cricketing career.
Ahmed Shehzad has often been compared with Virat Kohli. The Pakistan cricketer was all praise for the former Indian skipper, expressing that “his best is yet to come”. He expressed that Virat Kohli’s transformation regarding his fitness has been commendable. Speaking on Nadir Ali’s podcast, Ahmed Shehzad said,
“We share a mutual respect for each other. Whenever I need any advice regarding cricket, he has been kind (to help me out). I really respect him as a player. He has changed himself dramatically. When he burst onto the scene during the U-19 World Cup, he was a bit chubby.”
“But the way he has transformed himself, not just from the cricketing aspect, it is commendable. He took India to new heights in Test cricket. Haven’t seen someone who has adapted so quickly. I feel, his best is yet to come,” he added.
I think it is Gautam Gambhir’s mistake: Ahmed Shehzad on the Lucknow Super Giants’ mentors spat with Virat Kohli
Pakistan batter Ahmed Shehzad was further asked about Virat Kohli’s on-field spat with Gautam Gambhir during the 2023 Indian Premier League season. Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir got engaged in a heated argument during the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) match at the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Both of them were fined 100 per cent of their match fees.
“See this is not my work, but I am giving my opinion only because you have asked me. I might be wrong. From the outside, I think it is Gambhir’s mistake. If he wants to show his nobility, Gautam Gambhir should call Virat Kohli on his phone and apologize,” said Ahmed Shehzad on the incident.
“If Gambhir does that, yes, we will agree that he came out as the bigger man, how much he loves Virat Kohli, how he gave away his Man of the Match award to him,” he added.
