Pakistan Men’s Team’s chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq announced squads for the ODI series against Afghanistan and the upcoming ACC Men’s 2023 Asia Cup on Wednesday, August 9 through a press conference. The three-match ODI series against Afghanistan will take place in Sri Lanka from August 22 to August 26. They will play in the Asia Cup which begins on August 30.
Shan Masood has been dropped from the Pakistan team following his under-par performance in the ODI series against New Zealand at home earlier this year. He had a string of low scores in the series, scoring 0,1, 44 and 7, respectively. “Shan has missed out on selection following a string of low-scores,” wrote the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in their statement.
Meanwhile, Tayyab Tahir, Faheem Ashraf and Saud Shakeel have been included in the squad. Tayyab Tahir was rewarded for his brilliant century in the ACC Men’s Emerging Cup final against India A, which Pakistan A won by 128 runs. Meanwhile, Faheem Ashraf is making a comeback to the team after two years. Saud Shakeel has been included in the squad for the Afghanistan series but has been ignored for the Asia Cup.

Pakistan team will assemble at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore for a three-day camp on August 14. They will travel to Sri Lanka on August 17 for the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the players who are participating in the Lankan Premier League and The Hundred will join the squad directly in Sri Lanka on August 18.
