PAK vs AFG: [WATCH] Afghanistan’s Star Player Stuns Shadab Khan With A Run-Out At The Non-Striker’s End

In the second ODI between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Shadab Khan was dismissed with a run-out at the non-striker’s end. On Thursday, the second ODI between Pakistan and Afghanistan unfolded as a nail-biter in Hambantota, Sri Lanka.

Eventually, Pakistan emerged victorious by a single wicket, securing an unbeatable 2-0 advantage in the three-game series. However, the match was not without its share of on-field theatrics. In pursuit of a 301-run target, Pakistan managed to reach the goal with just 1 ball left in a thrilling 49.5-over pursuit. A pivotal moment occurred when Pakistan required 11 runs from the final six balls.

Fazalhaq Farooqi dismisses Shadab Khan through a run-out

Afghan bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi showcased exceptional game awareness, leading to a disputed situation. Shadab Khan of Pakistan, who was in dominant form with 48 runs from 35 balls, was positioned too far from the crease as the final over commenced. During the first ball of the over, Farooqi managed to dismiss him through a run-out. Despite Afghanistan’s initial celebration, Shadab displayed patience.

The TV umpire confirmed the run-out decision. Subsequently, Naseem Shah sealed the victory for Pakistan a few balls later. Afghanistan’s powerful opener, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, notched a career-best 151 runs, leading his team to 300-5 against Pakistan.

Gurbaz’s aggressive century came off just as many balls, aided by an opening partnership of 227 with Ibrahim Zadran, who scored 80 runs from 101 balls after Afghanistan chose to bat first. Gurbaz hammered 14 fours and three sixes against a top-tier bowling lineup, which had dismissed them for a mere 59 runs earlier in the week.

His previous highest score was 145, achieved against Bangladesh in Chattogram last month. Zadran also showcased his batting prowess, striking six fours and two sixes. Spinner Usama Mir managed to break the opening partnership during the 40th over by catching Zadran at long off. Additionally, tall paceman Shaheen Shah Afridi secured Gurbaz’s wicket in the 45th over with a caught-behind dismissal.
