Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad took to social media to express his concerns about the ticketing system for the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2023. The championship is all set to take place later this year in India. Prasad urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to have transparency in the process.
The tickets for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 were available on Bookmyshow to the fans. There was a pre-sale exclusively for Mastercard holders followed by an open sale for all the fans. However, during both the phases the fans faced several difficulties. They were put in a queue to book tickets, the time for which kept on increasing and eventually showed Sold out. The fans also complained of only a small number of tickets being sold online.
In a tweet posted on his official Twitter account, Venkatesh Prasad stated,
“I urge the @BCCI to have more transparency in the World Cup ticketing system and not take fans for granted. Definitely in a stadium like Ahmedabad, for an #IndvsPak clash more than the sold 8500 tickets need to be available when the capacity is 1 lakh +. Likewise, for all other matches, a larger chunk needs to be for the fans. It will be more fulfilling if the diehard fan is kept happy and not deprived of this opportunity instead of reserving a large chunk for corporates and members.”

I feel for the fans: Venkatesh Prasad
Expressing his disappointment further with the present ticketing process, Venkatesh Prasad shared that he feels sorry for the fans. He added that the Board of Control for Cricket in India should work towards escalating fan experience for the World Cup. He tweeted,
“It’s never been very easy to get World Cup tickets. But this time has been harder than before. Could have been better planned and I feel for the fans who have had high hopes and struggled to get tickets. I sincerely hope one of the most important stakeholders, the Fans get their worth and I hope @BCCI makes it easier for the fans.”
