ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Schedule Announced For The Warm-Up Matches Of The Mega Event

The much-anticipated ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 will officially begin with New Zealand facing defending Champions England in the first match of the tournament at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 5th October and will finish on 19th November 2023. Before the main tournament, all the teams will play warm-up matches. The practice matches will begin on 29th September and will finish on 3rd October 2023.

India will play their first practice game against Champions England on 30th September at Basapara Stadium, Guwahati. They would next take on the Netherlands in their last warmup game against the Netherlands on 3rd October at Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram.

The practice matches will be played at three venues including Hyderabad, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram. These warm-up matches will not be included as official matches as teams will field all 15 members. Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Australia, Netherlands will play two practice matches before the main tournament starts.

Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka (Basapara Stadium, Guwahati)- 2.00 PM

South Africa vs. Afghanistan (Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram)-2.00 PM

New Zealand vs Pakistan (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad)- 2.00 PM

30th September

India vs England (Basapara Stadium, Guwahati)- 2.00 PM

Australia vs Netherlands (Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram)- 2.00 PM

2nd October

England vs Bangladesh (Basapara Stadium, Guwahati)- 2.00 PM

New Zealand vs South Africa (Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram)- 2.00 PM

3rd October

Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka (Basapara Stadium, Guwahati)- 2.00 PM

India vs Netherlands (Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram)- 2.00 PM

Pakistan vs Australia (Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad)- 2.00 PM

Matches to take place in 10 venues

The 2023 World Cup main round will take place in 10 different venues in the country including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Dharamshala, Pune, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, and Bengaluru.

There are a total of 10 teams including India, South Africa, New Zealand, England, Australia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan qualified directly for the prestigious tournament. Sri Lanka and Netherlands made it into the tournament by finishing in the top two of ICC World Cup qualifiers played in Zimbabwe this year.
