Team India skipper Rohit Sharma has etched his name in the record books as he completes 10,000 runs in One-Day International (ODI) cricket. He achieved the feat during the Super Four match of Asia Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, September 12 at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He joined an elite list of cricketers who have achieved the landmark.
Rohit Sharma struggled to make much of an impact in his initial days in the format. However, over the years, he has undergone a remarkable transformation. He is one of the most prolific ODI batters in world cricket at the moment. In the Asia Cup Super Four clash against Sri Lanka, Rohit slammed a terrific six to bring up 10,000 runs in the 50-over format.
He achieved the feat during the seventh over of the innings. Kasun Rajitha bowled a fuller delivery around off and middle stump. Rohit Sharma lofted the delivery beautifully to send the ball sailing over the bowler for a magnificent six.

Rohit Sharma became the fifteenth cricketer to score 10000 runs in ODI cricket, and the sixth from India. He achieved the feat in his 241st innings in the format. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar in the list of Fastest to score 10,000 runs in ODIs and is second on the list. Indian batter Virat Kohli tops the chart getting to the feat in 205 innings.

Rohit Sharma-Shubman Gill’s partnership sets new record in ODI cricket
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill’s partnership has been valuable for Team India. They set a new record becoming the fastest Indian pair to complete 1000 ODI partnership runs. They got to the landmark in just 12 innings in the format.
The record was previously held by Rohit Sharma himself with KL Rahul. They achieved the feat in 14 innings. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have scored 1046 runs together as a pair in ODI cricket. They have four-century partnerships and five half-century partnerships so far.
