IND vs AUS: [WATCH] Indian Players Are Recalling All Five Wickets Taken By Mohammed Shami In The 1st ODI

Mohammed Shami delivered an outstanding performance for Team India, achieving his personal best with figures of 5/51 in the first ODI against Australia on Friday, September 22 in Mohali. Following the match, several Indian players were quizzed about their ability to remember the names of the five Australian batsmen that Shami dismissed.

In an entertaining video shared by the BCCI on a certain platform, Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Suryakumar Yadav were featured recollecting the wickets claimed by Shami.

While some of the players took a moment to recall the details, Mohammed Shami swiftly listed the names of all five wickets, which is quite understandable considering he was the bowler who secured those dismissals. You can watch the video here:

Mohammed Shami has definitely posed a challenging decision for the selectors

India typically relies on a pace trio of Bumrah, Siraj, and Thakur, while Shami often remains on the bench. Shami’s exceptional display has rekindled the discussion about whether he should replace Thakur as the third pacer in the team.

The team management has emphasized the need for a strong batting lineup and has emphasized the significance of Thakur or Axar Patel as the No.8 batsman. Nevertheless, there are also those who argue that India should prioritize playing their top bowlers.

Here’s Shami’s post-match statement: “I was just focused on hitting the right length on this pitch. Just wanted to bowl the right length with the quicker one and the slower one. (On the fast-bowlers in the team doing well) We’ve played together for a long time and the bonding is really good. When a big event is around the corner it’s important to have that.”

Thakur might feel some pressure to deliver with the ball in the upcoming two matches of the series.
