Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya suffered an injury during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. He twisted his ankle and had to leave the field. His injury is being assessed by the medical team and he has been taken for scans.
The incident took place during the ninth over of the Bangladesh innings. After conceding a boundary on the second delivery, the pacer tried to stop another four in his follow-up on the third delivery. However, he couldn’t save the boundary and slipped in the process. Hardik wobbled back towards his run-up in pain and had to call the physio on the field. He walked back off the field, with a taped ankle.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India took to ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) to share an update on Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder has left the stadium for a scan of his ankle. He will not take the field for the rest of the Bangladesh innings. A decision over his participation in the second innings will be taken after the scans.
“Hardik Pandya’s injury is being assessed at the moment and he is being taken for scans,” the BCCI wrote.
