Additionally, Kohli surpasses Tendulkar’s single World Cup run tally, going beyond Tendulkar’s 673 runs from the 2003 tournament. Aged 35, Kohli reached his century with a two off Lockie Ferguson after facing 106 balls.
His innings, featuring eight fours and a six, not only secured his 50th ODI century but also broke the shared record with Tendulkar, who had 49 ODI hundreds.
In the semi-final against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium, Kohli celebrated by lifting his arms, kneeling, and acknowledging the fans with his helmet off. He achieved a score of 100, facing 106 balls in an almost flawless innings with minimal chances.
Kohli received significant support from Shreyas Iyer in the middle phase of the match. Kohli remained composed, leading India to another victory and securing the top spot in the group stage.
