Waiting for this medal since the World Cup: Mohammed Siraj

Pacer Mohammed Siraj was delighted to win the Impact Fielder Medal award. He expressed that he had been waiting for it since the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Speaking during the medal ceremony, Mohammed Siraj said that he was,

“waiting for this medal since the World Cup and now he’s won it, which shows that one should never give in.”

Presenting the medal, India’s fielding coach T Dilip said, “We talk about making a difference not just in one match but throughout the series. The perseverance with which he was going through the World Cup is still there. Every time he bowls, he comes back, dives, and throws the ball. Today he made the difference in the field with the direct hit. Earlier, it was with his boundary line fielding.”

The three-match series ended in a tie. The first T20I was abandoned due to rain, while the hosts, South Africa won the second game. India made a comeback to win the third and final T20I, to draw the series.
