Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting revealed that Harry Brook was their top priority at the Indian Premier League 2024 auction, which took place on Tuesday, December 19 in Dubai. He expressed that they are delighted with their picks at the auction, filling all the gaps ahead of the upcoming season.
Harry Brook was signed by the SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹13.25 crore in the 2023 IPL auction. He slammed a century in the season but failed to score consistently. Ahead of the 2024 season, the Sunrisers Hyderabad released him from the team. The Delhi Capitals signed Brook for INR 4 crore at the auctions. Speaking about how the auction panned out for them, Ricky Ponting said,
“We filled all the gaps that we wanted to and I thought that we did a great job at the Auction table.”
Ponting also spoke about Harry Brook,
“I am excited about working with Harry Brook. He’s one of the most talented international cricketers at the moment. He was our number one priority in this year’s auction and we managed to acquire him at a great figure.”

Delhi Capitals’ Director of Cricket Sourav Ganguly is excited to watch Shai Hope in the 2024 Indian Premier League season. They signed the West Indies batter for his base price of INR 75 Lakhs. Shai Hope has scored 450 runs in T20Is at a strike rate of 127.48.
“He is a good player of spin and he has a phenomenal record in 50-over cricket. And our bowling department is looking good with Jhye Richardson in the attack,” said Sourav Ganguly.
