Renowned Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle playfully suggested to Ravi Shastri’s widely shared “dump” statement during Day 3 of the ongoing Australia vs Pakistan Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Friday, January 5.
In the Cape Town Test against South Africa on Wednesday, January 3, India was bowled out for 153 in the first innings. Despite responding to Proteas’ modest total of 55 with a solid 153/4, the visitors encountered a historic collapse, losing six wickets for no runs in 11 balls – an unprecedented event in the history of Test cricket.
Responding to India’s remarkable batting collapse, Shastri, while on air, remarked: “If someone went round the corner for a dump and has come back, India has been bowled out for 153!”
While providing commentary during Australia vs Pakistan Test on Friday, Bhogle recalled Shastri’s viral comment and cleverly expressed: “Ravi would have said, ‘If you’ve gone round the corner for a sandwich, you haven’t missed anything. Yep, sandwich is good,” the co-commentator chipped in.”

Bhogle’s remark appeared to allude to the situation where Australia was performing quite decently with the bat, replying to Pakistan’s first innings score of 313.
Aamer Jamal’s six-wicket haul limits Australia to a total of 299
Australia, positioned at 187/2, was in a favorable position to establish a substantial first-innings advantage in the SCG Test against Pakistan. However, Aamer Jamal, notable for his 82 runs in Pakistan’s first innings, demonstrated his bowling prowess by taking 6/69 in 21.4 overs.
Jamal’s outstanding performance limited Australia to 299 in 109.4 overs, resulting in a first-innings deficit of 14 runs for the Aussies. Australia began Day 3 at 116/2. Steve Smith was the initial dismissal, caught by Babar Azam from a delivery by Mir Hamza.
Marnus Labuschagne showcased resilience with a score of 60 but was eventually dismissed by a brilliant delivery from Agha Salman. Travis Head followed, getting lbw to Jamal after scoring 10.
Mitchell Marsh contributed 54 runs, and Alex Carey added 38 with commendable innings before Sajid Khan dismissed Carey. Aamer Jamal then broke Marsh’s resistance before dismantling the Australian tail, claiming the wickets of Pat Cummins (0), Nathan Lyon (5), and Josh Hazlewood (0).
