Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan showcased his batting prowess in the ongoing England Lions tour of India, 2024. He played a brilliant knock in the first two-day practice match on Saturday, January 13 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match ended in a draw with India taking the first-innings lead.
Sarfaraz Khan walked out to bat at number four after Pradosh Paul’s dismissal. India had a good start with 130 runs on the board for the loss of two wickets. Sarfaraz Khan got together with Rajat Patidar and the duo put on a good 80-run stand. Patidar also slammed a century in the match. After his dismissal, KS Bharat and Sarfaraz Khan took the India A forward.
In the sixty-ninth over, Sarfaraz Khan was dismissed by Jack Carson. The Mumbai batter fell four runs short of his century. He slammed 96 runs from 110 deliveries, including eleven boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 87.27. Sarfaraz has been a run-machine for Mumbai in domestic cricket and has continued his brilliant performance.

India managed 462 runs for the loss of eight wickets at the end of the final day’s play in the two-day practice match. KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel also slammed the fifties in the innings, as India took a first-innings lead of 178 runs. Earlier, Manav Suthar took three wickets while Akash Deep picked up a two-wicket haul.
Sarfaraz Khan fails to make it to India’s squad for England tests
The Indian selectors selected the test squad for the upcoming home series against England. Sarfaraz Khan once again failed to make it to the test squad despite his outstanding performance in first-class cricket. The Mumbai batter has slammed 3692 runs at an average of 69.66 with thirteen centuries, and a highest score of 301 runs. He has been a consistent performer in the domestic circuit for a while. However, he has missed out on an India call-up several times.
