The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday, floated an advertisement for the post of national men’s team selector on its website. There are speculations that former Mumbai cricketer Salil Ankola will be exiting the selection committee as one of the five selectors has to quit.
The men’s selection committee includes Ajit Agarkar as the chief, with SS Das, Salil Ankola, Subroto Banerjee, and S Sharath as the other members. There are speculations that Ankola might quit the role, as per a report by the Times of India. Salil Ankola was appointed as the Indian selector in January 2023. He has also served as the Mumbai selector previously.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) normally appoints one selector from each zone. However, the current chief of the committee, Ajit Agarkar and Salil Ankola are both from Mumbai and West Zone. In this case, Salil Ankola will be quitting the role. The BCCI has also floated an advertisement for the post on their website.
