IND vs AFG: Bengaluru Traffic Police Issues Advisory For Smooth Traffic Flow During The 3rd T20I Game At Chinnaswamy Stadium

The final T20I clash between India and Afghanistan is set to take place at the renowned M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Recognizing the potential traffic congestion during peak hours in the bustling city, the Bengaluru (East) Traffic Police has proactively issued an advisory to address the anticipated increase in traffic flow around the stadium on Wednesday, January 17.

In a bid to facilitate efficient traffic management in the vicinity, the advisory encourages commuters, including those attending the T20 match, to consider alternative routes, thereby circumventing potential gridlocks during rush hours. The official social media handle of the Bengaluru (East) Traffic Police shared the advisory, outlining the arrangements in place: “In view of the 3rd T-20 International Cricket match on 17/01/2024 from 2.00pm to 11.30pm at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, traffic arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.”

To alleviate potential parking challenges, the advisory explicitly restricts parking on roads surrounding the stadium, including prominent areas like Cubbon Rd, Queens Rd, Vittal Malya Rd, Raj Bhavan Rd, Central St. Rd., Nrupathunga Rd, Museum Rd, Kasturiba Rd, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Rd (near Vidhana Soudha), and Lavelle Rd. Instead, the traffic police have arranged for a “Pay & Park” facility at identified locations, including Kings Road, UB City Mall’s parking lot, and the BMTC Bus Stand in Shivajinagar (1st floor).

Considering the expected full-house attendance, especially with local star Virat Kohli participating in an international game at the venue after an extended period, the traffic police have issued a gazetted notification emphasizing essential guidelines related to travel, parking, and commuting. To minimize parking inconveniences, public transport is highly recommended, with the Namma Bengaluru Metro being the preferred mode.

The Cubbon Park Metro Station on the Purple Line provides direct access to the venue through Gate B. Adjustments to metro timings beyond the standard schedule, which concludes around 11.30 pm IST, may be made to ensure a seamless flow of attendees. This comprehensive advisory aims to enhance the overall experience for spectators and commuters alike.
