The BCCI named the Team India squad for the fifth and final test match to be played at Dharmshala from 7th March onwards. Indian Cricket Team is currently leading the 5-match series at 3-1.
India’s ace pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been added to the squad after resting for the fourth test at Ranchi. Bumrah played the first three test matches and management rested him keeping in mind of workload. Akash Deep Singh made his debut picking 3 top wickets for Duckett, Pope, and Crawley.
The major exclusion in this team has been KL Rahul who has been ruled out of the Test match due to an injury. He was supposed to be fit for the fifth test but went to London for treatment ahead of the 2024 IPL. The BCCI medical team is monitoring and coordinating with specialist doctors in London.
Washington Sundar has been released from the squad as he will play the semi-finals against Mumbai starting from 2nd March onwards. Sundar was included in the squad for the last two test matches but did not get a chance. He will join the Indian team for the fifth test after the completion of the semi-final match against England if needed.
The Indian Cricket Team would look to provide a dominating display winning the series 4-1 and going one step ahead to qualify for the 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship.
Indian team is currently at the number 2 spot in the World Test Championship rankings and would look to consolidate their position by winning the fifth test at Dharmshala.
Rajat Patidar has been retained despite poor performances in the fourth test match at Ranchi. The inclusion of Bumrah would bolster the Indian team and would look to play aggressive cricket making sure that they continue their domination winning the series by 4-1.
