Yashasvi Jaiswal Named Player Of The Month For February

The star young left-handed batter, Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named the ICC Player of the Month for February due to some stunning performances in the Test series against England that helped India win the series by 4-1.

Jaiswal had a brilliant outing in the second Test match at Vizag. He showed his class with some brilliant performance scoring his first double-century making 209 helping Team India post 396 runs in the first innings. He failed to contribute much in the second innings but, India set a target of 399 runs and won the match by 106 runs to level the series at 1-1.

Jaiswal came up with another special knock in the 2^nd innings of the 3^rd Test match at Rajkot. He showed his dominating play putting England bowlers under immense pressure hitting sixes and fours at will. The left-handed opener remained not out on 214 which helped India set a mammoth target of 557.

India won that match by a record 434-run win taking a 2-1 series lead. For his match-winning performance, Jaiswal was named the player of the match award.

Jaiswal continued his brilliant form in the 4^th test match at Ranchi where other Indian batters struggled. He made well made 73 runs in the first innings. Chasing 192 runs to win, the stylish left-handed batter scored 37 and put on 84 runs for the opening wicket. India won the match by 5 wickets thanks to Jurels and Gill’s unbeaten 72-run partnership for the 6^th wicket.

“I’m very happy to win this ICC award and I hope that there will be more in the future. It’s my first five-match series and it’s been an incredible experience with all my mates,” he said.

It was a tremendous batting performance by Jaiswal who looked in sublime touch putting enough pressure on England bowlers with his aggressive style of play. He showed his domination hitting 3 successive sixes against James Anderson in the 2^nd innings of the 3rd test match at Rajkot.

Jaiswal made 712 runs from 9 innings and helped India win the series by 4-1. The other nominations for ICC Player of the Month for men included Pathum Nissanka who showed great form during the ODI series against Afghanistan. Kane Williamson showed tremendous touch in a two-match test series against the weakened South African side.
