Former India skipper MS Dhoni has the quickest pair of hands behind the stumps. His lightning-fast hand movements are a nightmare to the batters. Recently, Bangladesh cricketer Sabbir Rahman recalled an incident from the ICC World Cup 2019 where he escaped a close stumping.
The 38-year-old’s wicket-keeping skills have helped India pocket a lot of close games. In the 2016 T20 World Cup, MS Dhoni had stumped Sabbir Rahman and changed the tide of the match. Eventually, India went on to win the match by 1 run. A similar situation occurred during the ICC World Cup 2019 game in England.

The incident took place when Sabbir Rahman stepped down the pitch to take Yuzvendra Chahal to cleaners. However, he went for the shot too early and the ball crept under his bat and went straight to MS Dhoni’s gloves. But the Bangladeshi batsman return to the crease much before the India cricketer could whip off the bails.
“Dhoni had stumped me during the T20 World Cup in Bangalore. He had a stumping chance in last year’s World Cup in England as well. This time, I slid back into the crease before him and told him, “Not today,” he said to Cricfrency Facebook Live episode.

Furthermore, Sabbir Rahman also recalled an incident when he had a close interaction with MS Dhoni about his bat and six-hitting capabilities. The veteran cricketer is arguably the greatest finisher of the current generation and has won India many matches with his sheer capability to clear the ropes with ease.
“I asked him what the secret of his bat was. Why whatever he hits goes for sixes when we have to struggle to clear the fence. He had said it was all about confidence,” he said.
“I had asked him to give his bat to me for the India match. Dhoni had said he could give me his bat but that I could not use it in the match against India. I could play against other teams with it,” Sabbir signed off.
