During the match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Dharamsala on Sunday, May 5, former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni reached another remarkable milestone in his illustrious IPL career.
Dhoni became the inaugural player in the league’s history to notch 150 catches. He achieved this feat by catching Jitesh Sharma, who attempted to play a short ball from Simarjeet Singh. Unfortunately, the wicketkeeper-batsman could only edge it to Dhoni and was dismissed for a golden duck.

MS Dhoni’s CSK clinch a significant win against PBKS
Chennai Super Kings faced Punjab Kings in a crucial match in Dharamsala on Sunday. PBKS entered the game following a convincing seven-wicket victory over the Chennai-based franchise. Opting to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad (30) and Daryl Mitchell (32) got Chennai Super Kings off to a solid start.
Subsequently, Ravindra Jadeja’s innings of 43 provided impetus, enabling the visitors to post a total of 167 runs. However, MS Dhoni failed to open his account and was dismissed for a golden duck in the penultimate over. Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel claimed three wickets each for Punjab.
In reply, the Kings suffered early setbacks with Tushar Deshpande dismissing Jonny Bairstow (7) and Rilee Rossouw (0). Despite Prabhsimran Singh (30) and Shashank Singh (27) showing resilience, the rest of the batting lineup collapsed quickly.
Consequently, PBKS could only muster a total of 139/9, falling short by 28 runs. Ravindra Jadeja emerged as the standout bowler for CSK, claiming figures of 3/20. With this win, CSK ascended to the top-four positions in the points table, securing six victories in 11 matches. They now require at least two wins from the remaining three fixtures to qualify for the playoffs.
