Fans reacted to the news of former Indian batter Gautam Gambhir named Head Coach of Team India’s senior men’s team. The declaration was made by BCCI secretary Jay Shah on the evening of Tuesday through his social media handle.
Assumption during the 2024 Indian Premier League season advised that Gambhir might swap Rahul Dravid as mentor of the national team. Gambhir had been assisting as a head coach to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024, a season in which they triumph the trophy.
Validating Gambhir’s nomination , BCCI secretary Jay Shah shared on the social media platform X on Tuesday.
“It is with immense pleasure that I welcome Mr as the new Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team. Modern-day cricket has evolved rapidly, and Gautam has witnessed this changing landscape up close. Having endured the grind and excelled in various roles throughout his career, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to steer Indian Cricket forward.”

Gautam Gambhir’s initial task will be the Sri Lanka series
The former Indian cricketer will start his coaching duration with the short format series in opposition to Sri Lanka planned from July 27 to August 7.
Gautam Gambhir’s primary task will be to assemble a team capable of making significant progress in the 2025 Champions Trophy and the 2026 T20 World Cup.
