Rohit Sharma started the year strongly with a solid home Test series against England, scoring 400 runs in nine innings, including two centuries. In total, he has played 12 Tests this year, scoring 597 runs at an average of 27.13.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has accumulated only 373 runs in eight Tests this year at an average of 26.64. His struggles in Test cricket over the past five years have been evident, with only three centuries in 36 matches. His Test average, which stood at 53.42 before 2021, has since dropped to 47.72.
