In-form Team India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is expected to play for Mumbai in their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Jammu & Kashmir, starting on January 23. While India’s Test captain Rohit Sharma is training with the Mumbai squad, his participation in the game remains unconfirmed.
Jaiswal was one of the few positives for India during their 3-1 Border-Gavaskar Trophy loss in Australia, scoring 391 runs in five Tests at an average of 43.44, including a century and two fifties.
According to The Times of India, Jaiswal is available for selection and will feature in the match. A source from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed this to TOI.
“He has been asked to report for Mumbai practice from tomorrow. He is available for the match on January 23, and he will be picked for that game.”

The report mentioned that Mumbai selectors will soon announce the squad for the Ranji Trophy match against J&K. This comes as the 23-year-old was excluded from India’s T20I series against England, scheduled from January 22 to February 2.
Mumbai are currently ranked third in Group A of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 points table. Having played five matches in the first leg, they have accumulated 22 points. The team won three games, lost one, and drew one. In their final match of the first leg, they defeated Services by nine wickets in Delhi.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s Performance for India in BGT 2024-25: A Review
Yashasvi Jaiswal (23) had a mixed start to his Border-Gavaskar Trophy campaign. He was dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the opening Test in Perth but made a strong comeback with a brilliant 161 in the second innings.
The young opener faced difficulties in the next two Tests, scoring 0 & 24 in Adelaide and 4 & 4* in Brisbane. However, he impressed in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne with scores of 82 & 84. Jaiswal’s BGT 2024-25 ended on a low note with scores of 10 & 22 in Sydney.
