Former Team India captain Virat Kohli joined the Delhi team for a training session at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday, January 28, ahead of their Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Railways. During the practice, Kohli took time to interact with a young boy named Kabir.
Kabir is the son of Shavez, who had played age-group cricket alongside Kohli. A video emerged on social media showing the young boy asking the cricket star, “What should I do to become an Indian cricketer?” Kohli responded with some valuable advice for the aspiring cricketer.
“A lot of hard work. Your father should not tell you to practice or train. You should yourself say every morning that you want to go to practice. If someone practices for an hour, you do it for two hours.”
”That is the only way. If someone scores a 50, you score a 100, and if someone scores a 100, you score a 200. Jo benchmark hai us se double (Whatever the benchmark is, you should do double of it).”

Virat Kohli will return to the Ranji Trophy after 12 years, playing for Delhi under Ayush Badoni’s captaincy. He declined the opportunity to lead the team in their final group match against Railways, starting January 30 at Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Virat Kohli Trains with Ex-Team India Coach Before Ranji Trophy Match
Several top Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, participated in the recently concluded round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25. While Virat Kohli was expected to play in Delhi’s match against Saurashtra, he missed the game due to a neck sprain.
Ahead of his highly anticipated return to domestic cricket, Kohli was seen refining his backfoot game in Mumbai under the guidance of former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar. Bangar had also worked with Kohli during his time as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) head coach in 2022 and 2023.
Kohli’s last appearance was in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series in Australia. Aside from his unbeaten 100 in the series opener in Perth, he struggled with the bat, amassing just 190 runs across nine innings at an average of 23.75.
