Yashasvi Jaiswal, opening batter for Team India, was dismissed for 15 on his ODI debut during the series opener against England in Nagpur on Thursday, February 6. Fast bowler Jofra Archer made an impact with the new ball, delivering a brilliant delivery that resulted in the left-handed batter being caught behind.

Chasing 249 for an early advantage in the three-match series, Jaiswal took charge, facing most of the deliveries against the new ball. He managed to hit regular boundaries off Saqib Mahmood, but Archer consistently challenged him.

The ball narrowly missed the edge several times before finally connecting. Archer, coming around the wicket, maintained a tight line to restrict Jaiswal’s room. The left-handed batter was squeezed for space and eventually edged a delivery while attempting to play inside the line with the angle.

The ball moved slightly away, just enough to find the edge, and Phil Salt comfortably took the catch behind the stumps to complete the dismissal. You can watch the video here:

Jaiswal was dismissed for 15 runs off 22 balls, including three boundaries. He made his debut after Virat Kohli was ruled out due to a knee injury ahead of the first ODI.

England capitalized on the early breakthrough by Jofra Archer to increase the pressure on India. Saqib Mahmood, from the other end, made an impact with the new ball, dismissing Team India captain Rohit Sharma for just two runs, leaving the hosts at 19-2 in the sixth over.

Team India is now trying to recover from the quick blows with a counterattack. Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer are currently at the crease, with the score at 43-2 after seven overs. Jofra Archer has been outstanding with the new ball, giving away just two runs in his first three overs, which includes a wicket maiden.
