Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have strengthened their coaching staff ahead of the IPL 2025 season. As the five-time IPL champions gear up for the new league cycle, they have officially announced the appointment of Sridharan Sriram as their new assistant coach.
The franchise confirmed the news on Monday through a social media post, welcoming Sriram to Stephen Fleming’s coaching team. He will serve as the assistant bowling coach, while Eric Simons has been named the bowling coach.
“Say Yellove to our assistant bowling Coach Sriram Sridharan! Brought up from the tracks of Chepauk to a packed portfolio of coaching tenures in Australia and Bangladesh, he embarks on this new journey with the pride,” a social media post from CSK wrote.

Who is Sridharan Sriram?
Sridharan Sriram, a former Indian cricketer, later moved into coaching with a focus on spin bowling and batting. He has served as a consultant and coach for multiple teams, offering strategic insights and aiding player development.
Representing India in 8 ODIs, he took 9 wickets in his international career. The 49-year-old also had brief stints in the IPL, playing one match each for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals.
Sridharan Sriram’s Journey in Coaching
Australia (2016-2022): Sriram worked as a spin-bowling coach and consultant, providing guidance to Australian spinners, particularly during tours in subcontinent conditions.
Bangladesh National Team (2022): He was appointed as the technical consultant for Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Sriram was also a member of the RCB coaching staff in the IPL, serving as their spin-bowling coach. This season, Ruturaj Gaikwad will captain the Super Kings, while MS Dhoni is set to feature in his 18th IPL season and 16th with CSK.
The team will kick off their IPL 2025 campaign with a high-profile clash against Mumbai Indians on March 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
