Ishan Kishan, a young Indian cricketer, known for his aggressive style of batting, has scored back-to-back fifties in a single match. You read it correct, he scored two fifties or half-centuries in one match. Kishan was playing the intra-squad match for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2025. While Kishan didn’t impress much with the bat in IPL 2024 when he opened for the Mumbai Indians, there are big expectations from him in the upcoming IPL season.
In the first innings of the intra-squad match for SRH, Kishan came out to bat with Abhishek Sharma, yet another aggressive lefty opener. Both played in the style they are known to, where Sharma got out early in 8 balls, but scored 28 regardless. Kishan scored 64 runs from 23 balls in the first innings. In the second innings, Kishan came out to bat again, chasing 261, and scored 73 in just 30 balls.
Where Will Ishan Kishan Bat in IPL 2025 for SRH?
Ishan Kishan’s preferred batting position is the opening slot. He has opened not just for MI, but also the Indian cricket team and even has a double century in the ODIs (One Day Internationals) for India.
But SRH will likely stick with the Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head duo for the opening in the upcoming season of IPL 2025. Kishan is likely to bat at number three, and carry on the momentum created by Sharma and Head. In IPL 2024, Head and Sharma gave quick starts to SRH on many occasions, and were one of the most feared batting duo. With Kishan under them, SRH has more hitting power in its portfolio and it will be interesting to see how the bowlers tackle these three in the season ahead.
SRH will play its first match of the IPL 2025 on March 23, in Hyderabad, against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
