The two sides thus completed their respective matches after 37.3 overs because of their desperate search for a win after their season openers, which they both lost.
Quinton de Kock played a big role in KKR’s winnings and helped the team gain a valuable eight-wicket victory. The South African keeper-batter did not get out, amassing a total of 97 on 61 balls with eight fours and six sixes. He brought up his fifty in just 36 balls and sealed the victory with a massive six into the long-on area off Jofra Archer.
Quinton de Kock’s Masterclass
The Masterclass KKR innings undoubtedly belonged to Quinton de Kock for his melting 97 runs off 61 balls. His experience and command steered the team toward an easy victory. The RR bowlers found themselves in a maze trying to disrupt de Kock’s rhythm as he cleverly rotated his strike and punished them with boundaries at will.
Moeen Ali’s Bowling
Moeen Ali, in for the unwell Sunil Narine, made a stellar contribution with figures of 2/23 in his four overs. Along with Varun Chakravarthy on 2/17, he curtailed the Royals’ scoring to 151 for 9. Moeen Ali’s ability to break important partnerships and choke the flow of runs proved priceless toward KKR’s victory on that very day.
The good work was complemented by KKR’s bowling troika, which consisted of pacers Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana, who took figures of 2/33 and 2/36, respectively, thwarting any semblance of major partnerships.
