Cricket fans often display immense passion for their favorite players, sometimes leading to unforeseen events. One such incident occurred during the match between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati. A security breach led to a fan entering the field, touching Riyan Parag’s feet before being escorted back to the stands. While security lapses in IPL are not new, they raise serious concerns about player safety.
The Incident: Fan Breaches Security
During the 12th over of KKR’s innings, just as Riyan Parag was about to bowl to Quinton de Kock, an enthusiastic fan managed to evade security and enter the field. The fan ran towards Parag, touched his feet, and even hugged him before security intervened.

Riyan Parag has become a cricketing icon in Assam. Leading Rajasthan Royals for the first three matches of IPL 2025, Parag’s leadership has received mixed reviews. However, his fans in Assam continue to support him with unwavering enthusiasm.
The security breach caused a brief pause in the game. However, order was quickly restored, and the match resumed with Riyan Parag continuing his over. While Riyan Parag appeared calm and composed, security officials were visibly alarmed. Such incidents highlight the need for tighter security measures at IPL venues.
Previous Security Breaches in IPL 2025
This was the second security breach in IPL 2025, with the first occurring during the opening match at Eden Gardens when a fan stormed onto the field during Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Fans often take such risks out of sheer admiration for their favorite players. In India, cricketers enjoy a god-like status, and touching a player’s feet is considered a sign of deep respect.
RR’s Struggles with the Bat
Rajasthan Royals, after losing the toss, were put in to bat first but faced significant challenges against Kolkata Knight Riders’ formidable bowling attack. Despite their struggles, Dhruv Jurel emerged as the highest scorer with 33 runs, followed by Yashasvi Jaiswal with 29 runs and Riyan Parag contributing 25 runs. Skipper Sanju Samson managed only 13 runs, while the rest of the batting lineup failed to make notable contributions, resulting in a below-par total.

KKR’s Dominant Bowling Performance
Moeen Ali and Varun Chakaravarthy led the bowling attack with two wickets each, showcasing impressive performances. Moeen Ali, on his debut, delivered a tight spell of 4 overs for just 23 runs, while Varun Chakaravarthy was even more economical, conceding only 17 runs in his 4 overs with an economy rate slightly over 4. Spencer Johnson chipped in with one wicket, while Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana also contributed with two wickets each. The Kolkata Knight Riders’ bowlers executed their plans brilliantly, successfully restricting the Rajasthan Royals to a manageable total.
