[WATCH]- Varun Chakravarthy And Moeen Ali Spin Magic In RR vs KKR IPL 2025 Clash

Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) all-rounder Moeen Ali completely outfoxed Nitish Rana during the IPL 2025 match against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Wednesday at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. The former England cricketer left the left-hander clueless, dismissing him for eight as RR found themselves in trouble beyond the halfway stage.

The wicket fell in the 11th over when KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane handed Moeen his third over. Until the final delivery, the off-spinner had conceded just six runs. Rana, facing the last ball, attempted to open the face of his bat and guide it away but misjudged the slight turn, resulting in the ball crashing into his stumps.

Whereas, Varun Chakravarthy and Quinton de Kock combined brilliantly to dismiss Rajasthan Royals’ stand-in captain, Riyan Parag. Chakravarthy and Moeen Ali took two wickets each, with Moeen replacing the unwell Sunil Narine. Vaibhav Arora provided an early breakthrough by dismissing Sanju Samson, but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Parag built a solid stand.

Parag hit a massive 90-meter six off Chakravarthy, but the spinner responded with a quicker ball at 113 kph, forcing a top edge. Quinton de Kock showed great awareness, removing his helmet for a clear view and taking a safe catch, delighting his teammates.

The 37-year-old stepped into the playing XI as a replacement for the unwell Sunil Narine, as announced by Ajinkya Rahane at the toss. Delivering an impressive spell of 4-0-23-2, he played a key role in restricting Rajasthan Royals to 151/9 after Rahane chose to bowl first in Guwahati.

However, Varun Chakravarthy emerged as Kolkata’s standout bowler, finishing with figures of 4-0-17-2. Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora also claimed two wickets each, while Spencer Johnson contributed with one.

Rajasthan Royals struggled to build momentum on what seemed like a good batting surface, with only five batters reaching double digits and none managing a half-century. Dhruv Jurel was the top scorer with 33 off 28 balls, setting the defending champions a target of 152.

After losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the IPL 2025 opener at Eden Gardens, KKR will be happy with their bowling performance in the first innings.
