Mumbai Indians (MI) may have returned to winning ways by defeating defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), but worries about Rohit Sharma’s form persist in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Chasing 117, Rohit got out for 13 runs, and after the match, he was spotted having a serious conversation with Mumbai Indians owner Nita Ambani.
The clip, which has gone viral on social media, shows Rohit speaking to Nita Ambani, who can be seen nodding. However, she quickly turned her attention to KKR all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer. Rohit managed just 12 balls against KKR, scoring 13 runs, including one four, before being dismissed by Andre Russell in the 6th over.

At 37, Rohit has been struggling in IPL 2025, amassing only 21 runs in three games, with scores of 0, 8, and 13. In the past five IPL editions, Rohit has struggled to get going. It was only last season that the seasoned campaigner surpassed 400 runs, with his numbers looking much worse had he not scored a century against Chennai Super Kings.
Rohit Sharma enters as an impact substitute
Rohit Sharma was used as an impact substitute in the match against KKR. He didn’t take the field from the very first ball after Hardik Pandya chose to bowl. He joined the action in the 16th over but struggled to find his timing with the bat. In the Mumbai vs Kolkata match, the Mumbai bowlers skittled the visitors out for just 116 runs in 17 overs.
Ashwani Kumar, a left-arm seamer from Punjab, was the standout performer, claiming four wickets. The 23-year-old Ashwani dismissed Ajinkya Rahane, Rinku Singh, Manish Pandey, and Andre Russell. Mumbai Indians had no trouble chasing down the target, with Ryan Rickelton remaining unbeaten on 62 off 41 balls. Suryakumar Yadav also finished not out on 27 off 9 balls, including three fours and two sixes.
