Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out for the rest of IPL 2025, the franchise confirmed on April 12. The New Zealand cricketer sustained a groin injury during GT’s match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. Phillips got injured during the powerplay and had to be helped off the field while acting as a substitute.
The 28-year-old wasn’t part of the starting XI in that game. Interestingly, Glenn Phillips hasn’t featured in any match for GT so far, despite regularly being named among the Impact Substitutes. Fortunately for the Titans, his absence hasn’t impacted their form, as they’ve won four of their first five games this season.
In an official release, Gujarat Titans stated (via Cricbuzz):
“Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6. Gujarat Titans wish Glenn a speedy recovery.”

Phillips, a standout performer in New Zealand’s 2025 Champions Trophy campaign, was picked up by GT at his base price of ₹2 crore in the IPL 2025 auction. With just eight IPL appearances—five for SRH in 2023 and three for RR in 2021—he remains relatively new to the league. GT has not yet named his replacement.
GT eye fifth straight victory in today’s clash against LSG
Gujarat Titans (GT) will aim to extend their dominant run when they face Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) today (April 12). Despite starting their IPL 2025 campaign with a loss to Punjab Kings (PBKS), Shubman Gill’s side has bounced back strongly, winning four matches on the trot.
With eight points from five games, the 2022 champions currently sit atop the points table. Key to their success has been Sai Sudharsan, who has amassed 273 runs at an impressive average of 54.60 and a strike rate of 151.66.
On the bowling front, out-of-favour Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj and left-arm spinner Sai Kishore have been the standout performers, claiming ten wickets each. Meanwhile, LSG come into the contest with momentum of their own, having secured back-to-back wins and three victories from their first five games.
