The thrilling IPL 2025 match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) witnessed an intense battle that culminated in a rare Super Over. Following the game, RR’s young star Yashasvi Jaiswal and Australian pace ace Mitchell Starc shared a warm moment, chatting briefly as Nitish Rana looked on.
The two players have crossed paths several times recently, especially during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy where they clashed in all five Tests. Their rivalry during the series became the talk of the cricketing world, particularly after Jaiswal’s cheeky sledging incident where he told Starc, “You’re coming too slow.” Starc, in return, dismissed Jaiswal three times during the series.
The Super Over Showdown
On Wednesday night at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, the drama unfolded as Delhi pulled off a sensational win in the Super Over. Starc delivered under immense pressure, giving away just two boundaries and capitalizing on two quick run-outs to restrict Rajasthan to a mere 11 runs. Tristan Stubbs and KL Rahul then chased down the target with a boundary and a six, clinching DC’s first win at their home ground.

Earlier, RR looked in control as Jaiswal (51 off 37) and Rana (51 off 28) gave them a strong platform chasing 189. But Delhi’s bowlers fought back in the final overs, tying the match at 188/4 and pushing it into the Super Over.
Sportsmanship Beyond Rivalry
Despite the fierce on-field competition, what stood out was the mutual respect between Jaiswal and Starc. After the match, Jaiswal approached Starc with a friendly, “Legend, how are you? Very well done, very well bowled.” The camaraderie between the two, once seen as rivals, was a refreshing display of sportsmanship. Starc had earlier been seen in conversation with his ex-KKR teammate Rana when Jaiswal joined in.
Their chat served as a reminder that even in high-pressure games, cricket remains a gentleman’s sport at its heart. With RR’s next clash set against the Lucknow Super Giants in Jaipur, fans are eager to see if Jaiswal can continue his form and spirit both on and off the field.
