Abhishek Nayar, the former batting coach of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), has rejoined the franchise’s coaching staff. KKR confirmed his return via their official social media channels. Nayar, who was part of the team’s coaching unit during their championship-winning campaign last season, had taken up the role of assistant coach with the Indian national team alongside ex-KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir last year.
However, he was recently relieved of his duties with the Indian men’s team, along with fielding coach T Dilip and strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai. It is believed that Abhishek Nayar‘s contract was due for renewal in June, but with the Indian team preparing for a five-match Test series in England, the board opted to make changes early, ahead of the squad selection.
On Saturday (April 19), KKR shared a post on X featuring an image of Nayar in the team’s training gear, confirming his comeback with a caption:
