Mumbai Indians (MI) veteran Rohit Sharma was spotted sharing a light-hearted conversation with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni during his batting stint in the IPL 2025 clash on Sunday, April 20. The high-profile match took place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, where MI clinched a dominant nine-wicket victory.

Chasing 177, Rohit anchored the innings with an unbeaten 76 off 45 balls, earning the ‘Player of the Match’ title. Alongside Suryakumar Yadav (68*), he stitched a match-winning 114-run stand for the second wicket, sealing the win in just 15.4 overs.

A fan-shared video on X captured a brief on-field exchange between Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni during the second innings, showing Rohit speaking while Dhoni listened closely from behind the stumps. You can watch the video here:

“Staying till the end and finishing the game was most satisfying” – Rohit Sharma after POTM show vs CSK

Rohit Sharma was named ‘Player of the Match’ at the post-match presentation for his explosive innings during the chase. Speaking about MI’s victory and his own performance, Sharma said (via ESPNcricinfo):

“Today was a very good game for us. After being here for such a long period of time, it is very easy to start doubting yourself and start getting worried. For me it was about keep doing what I do, practice well and hit the ball well. I know it has been a while, but that is where the experience of being here helps.”

The former MI captain further continued:

“I wanted to hit the ball, but it was important for me to hold my shape. It is not happening consistently, but I am not going to doubt myself. We spoke about it (coming onto the field as the impact player in the last two-three overs). I don’t mind it. But it is not easy when you have not fielded for 17 overs. I enjoyed being out there. The most satisfying part was staying till the end and finishing the game.”
