[WATCH]- Rohit Sharma Sports Special Gloves Honoring His Family For IPL 2025

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma was seen wearing customized batting gloves during a practice session ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). The gloves featured the initials of his wife Ritika and children Samaira and Ahaan.

The Mumbai franchise shared a video on social media showcasing Sharma’s gloves, which had ‘SAR’ inscribed on them. MI playfully challenged fans to decipher the abbreviation, and it didn’t take long for supporters to recognize that Sharma had dedicated the gloves to his family.

Rohit Sharma is set to make his return to competitive cricket in IPL 2025 after a brief break. Earlier this year, he led India to victory in the 2025 Champions Trophy. Following the Men in Blue’s triumph, he took some time off to relax with his family on a trip to the Maldives.

The dynamic opener delivered a stellar performance in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand, playing a crucial 76-run knock. His impactful innings earned him the Player of the Match award in the title clash.

Rohit Sharma will compete in IPL 2025 under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya

Rohit Sharma is among the most successful captains in IPL history, having guided Mumbai Indians (MI) to five titles. However, his tenure as skipper came to an end before IPL 2024, with the franchise appointing all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the new captain.

MI had a disappointing season under Hardik, finishing last with four wins in 14 matches. Despite this, he will continue as captain in IPL 2025 but will miss the opening game due to a one-match ban for an overrate offense in 2024. MI committed their third overrate violation during their final league match last season, leading to the suspension of the 31-year-old.

In Hardik’s absence, Suryakumar Yadav will take over the captaincy for the first match. Mumbai will begin their campaign against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday, March 23.
