Mumbai Indians (MI) will kick off their 2025 IPL campaign against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on March 23. In the opening match, Suryakumar Yadav will lead the team as regular captain Hardik Pandya serves a one-match suspension for a slow over-rate.
Hardik received the ban from the IPL governing body at the end of the previous season after MI failed to complete their 20 overs within the stipulated time on three separate occasions, with the final violation occurring in their last game of the season.
Rohit Sharma ranks as the third-highest run-scorer in IPL history
Rohit Sharma brings immense experience to the IPL, having participated in the tournament since its inception in 2008. The right-handed batter has featured in 257 matches, amassing 6,628 runs, including 43 half-centuries and two centuries.
This makes him the third-highest run-scorer in IPL history, trailing only Virat Kohli (8,004) and Shikhar Dhawan (6,769). Additionally, Rohit ranks second in the list of players who have captained the most IPL matches, leading in 158 games—only behind MS Dhoni (226).
