[WATCH]- Hardik Pandya Shares Special Moment With India Teammate After IPL 2025 Match

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya signed an India Champions Trophy jersey for his national teammate and SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) fast bowler Mohammad Shami after their IPL 2025 match on Wednesday, April 23, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The pair shared a light-hearted chat, joined by MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

Both Shami and Pandya were instrumental in India’s Champions Trophy victory in Dubai earlier this year. Shami ended the tournament as the joint second-highest wicket-taker, claiming nine wickets in five games at an average of 25.88, which included a five-wicket haul against Bangladesh.

Hardik Pandya made key contributions with both bat and ball—taking four wickets and delivering important innings in the semi-final against Australia and the final versus New Zealand. You can watch the video here:

Shami, on the other hand, was left out of SunRisers Hyderabad’s playing XI for their IPL 2025 clash against the Mumbai Indians, owing to his underwhelming form this season. Although he was named in the impact substitute list, SRH chose not to bring him into the game. The 34-year-old pacer has featured in seven matches so far, picking up just five wickets at an average of 52.20.

“Happy to see the team building on the momentum positively”- Hardik Pandya

The star all-rounder, who guided MI to a seven-wicket victory over SRH, shed light on his choice to have Deepak Chahar bowl all four of his overs during the powerplay. During the post-match presentation, the 31-year-old mentioned that he didn’t want to disrupt Chahar’s rhythm by saving his overs for later. He stated (via ESPNcricinfo):

“Good to have a win. Glad the boys are taking the momentum in the right way.. I’ve felt, once everyone starts clicking in this team there will be domination. Realised captaincy sometimes is about instincts, want to see and react and not always pre-plan. In a situation like this where he bowled wonderfully in the powerplay, then why hold his fourth over back?”
