Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Hardik Pandya gave team owner Akash Ambani a light-hearted scare with the robot dog ‘Champak’ after their IPL 2025 showdown against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The high-voltage encounter took place on Sunday, April 20, at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
CSK set a target of 177, posting 176/5, with key knocks from Shivam Dube (50) and Ravindra Jadeja (53*). Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets for MI. In reply, MI chased down the target effortlessly, with a dominant 114-run partnership between Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav, sealing a comfortable win.
Rohit Sharma stayed unbeaten with a superb 76 off 45 deliveries, smashing four boundaries and six sixes, while Suryakumar Yadav remained not out on 68 off just 30 balls, laced with six fours and five sixes. MI comfortably chased down the target, securing a nine-wicket victory with 26 balls remaining.
Post-match, skipper Hardik Pandya was spotted operating the robot-dog ‘Champak’ beside team owner Akash Ambani. In a playful moment, ‘Champak’ suddenly jumped, catching Ambani off guard and giving him a mild scare.

With their third win in a row, MI has climbed to sixth spot on the points table, collecting eight points from eight matches.

Mumbai Indians secured a comfortable nine-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings, chasing 177. In the post-match presentation, captain Hardik Pandya emphasized the team’s focus on basics, playing simple cricket, and following their plans. He said [as quoted by Cricbuzz]:
“The way I think we are playing the sport, we knew it was going to be a high-scoring game and we took the percentage. The way Rohit & Suryakumar bat, it’s a relief from outside.”
“You don’t have to worry about Rohit’s form, when he comes good, we know the opposition will be out of the game and the way Surya batted it was great as well, that partnership took the game away.”
“We are sticking to the basics. We are playing simple cricket and we are sticking to our plans. I think we weren’t really far away from a win but we had to put things together.”
