Incidentally, Afridi also referred to the comments made by former India trainer Paddy Upton. In his book, Upton had called Gambhir the ‘weakest and mentally most insecure people’ he worked with.
“As a cricketer, as a batsman, I’ve liked him always but as a human being he sometimes says certain things, gives certain treatment that you feel just let it be, he has some problems. His physio has already highlighted that,” Afridi told Abbas.
Meanwhile, Gautam Gambhir had responded to Paddy Upton’s comments stating there was nothing wrong in it. He also added that as an individual and his passion for his game and his country, he always wanted to do better.
“I wanted myself and Indian team to be the best in the world. That’s why I was not satisfied even after scoring 100 as it has been mentioned in Paddy’s book. I see nothing wrong there. As a driven individual, I have tried to raise the bar for myself alone,” Gambhir had said on Upton’s comments.
Recently, Gautam Gambhir also slammed Shahid Afridi for his comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kashmir. Calling him a 16-year-old, Gambhir asked Afridi not to interfere in the internal matters of India.
