With most of the exciting series getting cancelled in the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the fans are gearing up for India’s tour of Australia later this year. While dark clouds still loom large over the future of the series, the fans are extremely hopeful. Former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir is extremely hopeful that India can defend the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India scripted history when they toured down under in 2018-19. They registered their first-ever Test series win beating the host 2-1. Taking that into consideration, the upcoming series has all the recipes to excite the fans.

The host, who will have Steve Smith and David Warner this time in the side, will be desperate to give it back to India. Meanwhile, for that to happen, Australia will have to play out of their skins.

Despite having Smith and Warner in their ranks, former India opener Gautam Gambhir believes India stand a good chance to defend the trophy. The cricketer-turned-politician believes Indian fast bowler will keep Virat Kohli & Co in high stead.

“India has the fast bowlers to challenge any team in any conditions. I am sure with success on the last tour of Australia in the bag, if we go to Australia, we will be a serious challenge to the hosts,” Gambhir said to Times of India.

Meanwhile, the intensity remains high for the Border-Gavaskar series with many people already talking about high-profile series. Moreover, the series holds high stance keeping in mind the ICC World Test Championship.

The four-Test series will commence from December 3, India will then attempt to end Australia’s unbeaten record in Adelaide day-night Tests. Adelaide will host the only day-night Test of the tour ahead of Perth. Meanwhile, Melbourne and Sydney will host the traditional Boxing Day and New Year Tests.
