SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma got off to a strong start in the IPL 2025 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday, May 23. In the second over, the left-hander hit Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a four followed by a six. The six caused unexpected damage, shattering the windshield of a sponsored car.
The incident occurred when Bhuvneshwar bowled a short delivery outside off stump. Abhishek stayed firm and launched it over deep mid-wicket, connecting cleanly with the ball. It sailed straight onto the display car, cracking its windshield.

According to the official broadcasters, the car’s brand has pledged to donate ₹5 lakh to grassroots cricket each time the ball strikes the car. Notably, the match was moved from Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow because of continuous rain in Karnataka’s capital.
RCB’s earlier game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the same venue was also abandoned without a toss due to weather conditions.
RCB Fights Back After Explosive SRH Start in IPL 2025
Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave SRH a blazing start in their IPL 2025 match against RCB, reaching 50 runs in just 21 balls. However, Lungi Ngidi broke their 54-run partnership by dismissing Abhishek in the fourth over.
Abhishek scored 34 off 17 balls with a strike rate of 200, hitting three sixes and three fours. Shortly after, Bhuvneshwar Kumar dismissed Head for 17 off 10 balls, helping RCB regain control. At that point, SRH stood at 54-2 after 4.2 overs, with Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen batting.
SRH had recently beaten Lucknow Super Giants but were already out of the IPL 2025 playoffs race. Meanwhile, RCB, with 17 points from 12 games, have secured a playoff spot and sit second on the points table, aiming for a top-two finish.
