IPL 2025: LSG Star Mimics Digvesh Singh Rathi’s Famous Celebration, Makes Massive Statement Post GT Match

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Akash Singh has opened up about copying teammate Digvesh Rathi’s celebration during the IPL 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday (May 22). The 23-year-old said he promised Rathi that his absence wouldn’t be felt in the match.

Rathi was suspended for one game after violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against SunRisers Hyderabad in Lucknow. The 27-year-old received a one-match ban due to accumulating five demerit points and was fined 50% of his match fees for committing a Level 1 offence.

After Akash dismissed Jos Buttler for 33, he mimicked Digvesh Rathi’s controversial notebook celebration. In a video posted by the team on social media, the young pacer explained:

“Woh dedicate mere bhai Rathi ko karna tha. Maine usko bola tha match se pehle ki tujhe ground mein miss hone nahin denge. Chinta mat kar. Tere liye parchi kaatenge.” (Wanted to dedicate it to my brother, Rathi. I told him before the match that you won’t be missed in the ground. Don’t worry. We’ll do that celebration for you.)

LSG’s Win Dash Gujarat Titans’ Hopes For Top Spot In IPL 2025 Points Table

The Super Giants’ victory on Thursday has put the Titans’ chances of finishing in the top two at risk. Although Shubman Gill and his team still hold the first position, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) each have two remaining matches. If both teams win their upcoming games, they could claim the top two spots.

Mitchell Marsh’s 117 off 64 balls and Nicholas Pooran’s unbeaten 56 were crucial in helping LSG post a strong total of 235/2 in their 20 overs. In reply, only Shahrukh Khan managed a half-century for the Titans, who ultimately lost by 33 runs. Gujarat now have one final match against Chennai Super Kings and must win to keep their hopes of a top-two finish alive.
