Indian cricketer Rinku Singh and Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj recently got engaged in a lavish ceremony in the capital city. The event, held at a prominent hotel, was attended by key political leaders and celebrities. Notable guests included SP President Akhilesh Yadav and MP Dimple Yadav, along with senior politicians like Rajeev Shukla, Jaya Bachchan, Shivpal Yadav, and Ramgopal Yadav.

Cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was also present. A highlight of the event was a video showing Priya dancing joyfully to the hit Bollywood song ‘Gallan Goodiyan’. Initially reluctant, Rinku later joined in, adding charm to the celebration. SP MP Awadhesh Prasad shared his blessings with the couple, expressing hopes for a joyful future. The festivities reportedly began on Saturday evening and featured a purely vegetarian menu, as per family sources.

The Couple’s Background and Rising Public Image

Rinku Singh is widely known in Indian cricket, especially for his stellar performance in IPL 2023, where he hit five consecutive sixes in an over to secure a dramatic win for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He has been with the team since 2018 and featured in the recently concluded 2025 IPL season. Born on October 12, 1997, in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, Rinku made his international debut in 2023 and has since played two ODIs and 33 T20Is.

In first-class cricket, he has scored 3,336 runs in 50 matches, including seven centuries. On the other hand, Priya Saroj made her political debut in the 2024 general elections, winning the Machhlishahr seat on a Samajwadi Party ticket.

Priya Saroj’s Political Journey and Educational Background

A native of Karkhiaon village in Varanasi, Priya Saroj has been involved in politics from a young age, supporting her father Tufani Saroj, an SP MLA from Kerakat. She first gained visibility during his 2022 Assembly campaign.

A rising face in Indian politics, Priya earned a degree in arts from Delhi University and a law degree from Amity University, Noida. Her engagement with Rinku Singh marks the coming together of sports and politics, and their union has already captured public and media attention.
