Despite being a dominant force in world cricket, there are some grounds where India’s Test record remains disappointing. As India prepares to take on England at Edgbaston for the second Test of the 2025 series, their history at this venue is a concern. Here’s a look at five stadiums where India has never won a single Test match.
1. Edgbaston, Birmingham
Edgbaston has been an unlucky venue for India in Test cricket. They have played eight matches here since their first appearance in 1967. Out of those, India has lost seven and managed just one draw, which came in 1986.
The last time India played here was in 2022 during the rescheduled fifth Test of the 2021 series, where they lost by seven wickets. As they return to Edgbaston in 2025, the team will hope to end this long-standing drought and finally clinch a win at this ground.
2. Kensington Oval, Barbados
India’s record at the Kensington Oval in Barbados is equally dismal. They have played nine Tests at this venue since 1953 but have never secured a win. India has lost seven matches here and drawn two.
The most recent Test played at this ground by India was in 2011. Despite their efforts, the Indian team has not been able to overcome the home advantage that West Indies enjoy at this ground.
3. Old Trafford, Manchester
Old Trafford is one of England’s historic cricket grounds, but it hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for India. Since their first match here in 1936, India has played nine Tests, losing four and drawing five.
The venue is scheduled to host the fourth Test of the ongoing 2025 series, offering India another opportunity to rewrite their history. So far, their efforts at Old Trafford have not been enough to register a single Test victory.
4. Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore
When India and Pakistan used to play regular bilateral series, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium was a key venue. India has played seven Tests here, starting from 1978 to the last one in 2006.
Out of these, Pakistan has won two while five matches ended in draws. India has never emerged victorious in Lahore, making it one of the grounds where they have struggled to convert opportunities into wins.
5. Bourda, Guyana
The Bourda Cricket Ground in Guyana, although no longer hosting international matches since 2006, remains a venue where India never won a Test.
From 1953 to 2002, India played six Test matches here, all of which ended in draws. While India remained unbeaten, they also couldn’t manage to secure a single win in any of their appearances at Bourda.
