Indian Premier League (IPL) is just around the corner and excitement for this season is unmatched. The 13th edition of the IPL will mark the return of all Indian cricketers playing for their respective franchises. Recently in an interview, Sanjay Manjrekar picked 2 Indian players for whom this IPL season will be extremely crucial.
The two players Manjrekar is eagerly looking forward to watching in the upcoming IPL are Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson. The former cricketer told that both Samson and Pant are a joy to watch but are also enigmatic. He added that Pant has that X-factor when he bats whereas Samson takes your breath away with his elegant style of batting.
Sanjay Manjrekar Picks 2 Players For IPL 2020
“People like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, for me as an analyst watching the players and trying to make an assessment, sometimes predictions go right or wrong, they are both slightly enigmatic for me”.
“Rishabh Pant, definitely there is something there. There is an X-factor and he will suddenly win you games in 10 minutes, that you thought you were losing. Sanju Samson as well, the kind of batting that he has got when he is on song, he just takes your breath away”, Manjrekar said on the Cricket Connected Show on Star Sports.
Rishabh Pant will be representing the Delhi capitals in IPL 2020. On the other hand, Sanju Samson will again be crucial for Rajasthan Royals when IPL kicks off from next month in UAE. Sanjay Manjrekar added that there is no denying the talent and class of both players but this season they will have to be more consistent that will separate them from the rest.
“But finally, consistency and generally winning performances are important, there is so much cricket happening and people clamouring for a batting position. Talent is there, the class is there, the potential is there but finally, I am going to look at Sanju Samson’s performances and Rishabh Pant’s numbers as well to make a judgement on them”.
“So, it is another big IPL and all everyone wants from them is consistency. It can’t be one good inning and then 3-4 failures where it seems that you have just thrown it away”, Manjrekar concluded.
Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has been a prolific run-scorer for his franchise in the IPL in the last few years. In 54 matches Pant has 1736 runs to his name at a phenomenal strike rate of 162.
Whereas Sanju Samson too has an impressive IPL record as he has slammed 2209 in his career at a strike rate of over 130. Both young players will be keen on performing in IPL 2020 that will take place between September 19- November 10 in UAE.
